Learning Targets & Outline

This is an introductory course in pharmacology. The course covers basic concepts in pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and pharmacogenetics. This course lays a foundation upon which system-specific or disease-specific pharmacology courses will be designed and delivered. Frequently used definitions, such as dissociation constant, clearance, and receptor theory are explained with an assumption that a student has no prior exposure to pharmacology. Interactive exercises, animations, and quizzes are used to reinforce the concepts and test the student’s understanding.This course is appropriate not just for health sciences students but anyone who is interested in learning or brushing up their knowledge in basic pharmacology.
